Barry Haynes is a regular contributor to PHOTO Techniques and a noted Photoshop instructor who has taught workshops at the Ansel Adams Digital Workshops and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, among many others. The 8th edition of his book Photoshop Artistry: for Photographers using Photoshop CS2 and Beyond is published by New Riders Publishing.
His work has appeared in numerous solo and group shows, and he runs
his own gallery in Gibsons, British Columbia.
He uses 35mm, 6x7, and 4x5 transparency film, mostly Fuji Velvia, or a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, to capture his original photographs. Film is digitized using a high-quality film scanner at 2,500 to 5,000 ppi. He then uses Photoshop and a variety of masks and layers to carefully create a master digital file of each image, with the goal of recreating the emotion he felt for the subject when taking the original photograph. This work is all done within a carefully calibrated color environment.
For this print offering, the master file will be printed, employing a custom color profile, on an Epson 7600 printer using UltraChrome pigment ink on Epson Premium Luster paper.
