Matthew Pace; May/June 2010, pt‘s Serious Photographer
Matthew Pace is a corporate portrait photographer and a food photographer working in South Florida, Miami, and New York and current President of ASMP, S. FL and Moderator of Fine Art Photographers Group/LinkedIn. He says his approach is to always search for and capture what is “behind the side that appears.” For the subject of a portrait, that is “who I am, what I do and where I’m from.” For food, it’s the “visual flavor.”
Born in France, Pace has dual French/American citizenship. He frequently visits France, his second home, and his comfort with both French and English allows him to work easily abroad, as well as in the United States. He says, “Growing up between both languages and cultures sensitized me to the differences between people and countries. It cultivated an appreciation and curiosity about others that have helped me greatly in meeting and interacting with people of all levels and backgrounds, a useful tool in my photography. I have never made a difference between art and photography. For me they are both the same, taking the right approach with the right attitude. When that changes for me, it will be over. The best assignments and photographs I have made are yet to be made.”
