Hahnemuhle to launch two new papers at Photo Plus Expo in New York City
Woodstock, IL October 2, 2007 The new FineArt Baryta and Bamboo papers from the international award-winning Hahnemuhle Digital FineArt Collection will be on display at the Hahnemuhle Photo Plus Expo Booth 1519. The new Bamboo paper is a natural white paper with a warm tone that combines spiritual photography and environmental considerations. The new FineArt Baryta paper combines a smooth surface with an original Baryta finish.
Hahnemuhle has been able to bring the famous photographer Justin Guariglia, who has achieved critical acclaim for his work in China, on board for the start of the bamboo campaign. His internationally sought-after spiritual images from the Shaolin Temple in China will be depicted on the product's green packaging. Three of Justin's colored images will be displayed on a black background as part of the Hahnemuhle booth.
Justin Guariglia on the new paper: "When the Aperture Foundation approached me to create an international traveling exhibition of our book Shaolin: Temple of Zen, I turned to Hahnemuhle for a paper that would reflect the spirit of the project. The Bamboo 290 paper was my immediate first choice. Its beautiful warmth and texture imbues every print with an unsurpassed feeling of intimacy and energy. These qualities allow us to accurately share the sacred and sublime spirit of this fifteen-hundred year old Chinese Zen temple with audiences around the world."
Guariglia's new book with Aperture, Shaolin: Temple of Zen, will be released October 2007. One signed copy of new book will be raffled off each day an hour before close of show. The books will also be available for sale through the Aperture Foundation.
For the first time Hahnemuhle will, on the occasion of the Bamboo launch, support several environmental projects. On October 20th, customers will be able to log on to the website www.green-rooster.com and propose an environmental project.
Renowned photographer Platon will have three images printed on the new FineArt Baryta on display at the Hahnemuhle booth. The three images will be black and white portraits. Known for his bold and graphic signature portrait style, Platon has been commissioned by some of the most influential magazines to photograph some of the most prominent people of our time.
As a student, Platon received British Vogue's "Best Up- and-Coming Photographer" award in 1992. Platon continues to shoot fashion, portrait and documentary work for a range of international publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Time, Rolling Stone, Newsweek and GQ.
